Asbury Park awards electric scooter contract to superpedestrian
ASBURY PARK – At their April 28 meeting, Asbury Park City Council awarded the city’s electric scooter contract to Superpedestrian for the next three years.
The company’s Link e-scooter service will begin later this spring, with 50 scooters and grow to 250, and will help residents not only get around the city, but also connect with NJTransit.
“We are delighted to offer our LINK scooters to the residents of Asbury Park,” said William Knapp, vice president of operations at Superpedestrian, in a press release.
“As we continue to live through the COVID-19 pandemic, safe, sustainable and accessible modes of transportation are increasingly important. We look forward to serving Asbury Park residents and shoreline visitors with our unique LINK scooters, designed for driver safety and personalized, convenient transportation. “
To drive a LINK scooter, download the LINK app for iOS or Android and use the app to scan a scooter QR code. LINK also offers accommodation for cyclists without a smartphone.
Each ride will cost $ 1 to unlock a scooter plus 35 cents per minute. Asbury Park residents receiving local, state or federal assistance will be entitled to a 70% reduction under the “LINK-Up” program.
Superpedestrian is also seeking feedback from Asbury Park residents who have suggestions for deployment locations. Community members will submit their ideas and comments to the Asbury Park Company website, which will launch in May.
