Where the Hell is Strathmere???If one hundred random people in New Jersey were asked where Strathmere was, most likely ninety-eight of them would not have any idea? Strathmere, with its claim to fame is the infamous logo on shirts and hats: “Where the Hell is Strathmere?” is located at the Northern end of Sea Isle City and directly to the south of Ocean City in Cape May county. What makes Strathmere so unrecognizable is the lack of almost anything located in its town limits. Those who have never heard or been to Strathmere most likely will not show up in the near future, but those who know it’s quietness, and uncongested feeling, come back year after year. While most Jersey Shore beach resorts are packed with tourists during the summer months, Strathmere stays calm and less crowded. And the reason why is that although it seems to have little to offer in the sense of entertainment and summer activities, Strathmere is surrounded by everything a vacationer could ever want. With only a few restaurants, a general store, and two bars, Strathmere is basically a small area with ocean and bay views along Ocean Drive. But a very short drive away, and you will find anything imaginable. Ocean City with its family fun boardwalk, and Atlantic City with its gambling, shopping, and dining are only minutes to the north of Strathmere. Sea Isle City, Wildwood, and Victorian Cape May are only minutes to the south. After enjoying a quiet day on the uncrowded beach, you can get to any destination within minutes and enjoy the vacation of a lifetime. If it is peace, quiet, and serenity you are looking for, Strathmere is one of very few destinations along the Jersey Shore where you will find just that. Located off exit 17 of the Garden State Parkway, Strathmere welcomes those who want to kick back and relax. Come to Strathmere and you can answer the infamous question: Where the Hell is Strathmere??? |
